Access to Almscliff is a privilege, not a right. The crag is on privately owned land and is not designated as open access. This means that it's very important that climbers look after the crag and behave well to maintain a good relationship with the farmer and the currently excellent access we enjoy.
The farmer who owns Almscliff does not want the crag to be used at nightime for a lamping venue and continued daytime access relies on climbers respecting his wishes. For advice on how to pick an appropriate alternative venue for lantern sessions and minimise your impact, read this article

User attention
The Keel boulder appears to have slipped by a few inches some time around early 2026. It may now be stable again, or may move further. It is probably sensible to avoid climbing on the block for now. This notice will be updated as soon as further assessment has been made.
