Maps of Prohibited Areas
This section shows the prohibited access areas that apply across the Dyurrite landscape from October 2026. Maps, coordinates and polygon boundaries identify the areas where access is prohibited.

What visitor needs to know
- - From October 2026, opportunities for recreation will continue across many parts of the Dyurrite landscape with access arrangements in place to strengthen the protection of Aboriginal cultural heritage.
- - Current voluntary closure areas will be removed and replaced with the new access arrangements.
- - The maps and location information in this document show where access is prohibited (including walking, climbing and bouldering).
- - Visitors and Licensed Tour Operators are responsible for ensuring they do not enter prohibited areas.
- - Temporary or seasonal closures may also occur for reasons such as wildlife protection (i.e. Peregrine Falcon nesting), fire management, park operations, maintenance works or emergency events. These temporary closures operate in addition to the access arrangements outlined in this document.
- - Visitors should check current conditions and closures on the Parks Victoria website before visiting the park.
Why access arrangements are in place
Parks Victoria is required to protect Dyurrite’s unique cultural and natural heritage for current and future generations while supporting opportunities for access to recreational and other activities in the park.
Under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006, avoiding harm to Aboriginal cultural heritage is the preferred management outcome. To support this, Parks Victoria has implemented access arrangements through Set Aside Determinations made under the National Parks Regulations 2024, which operate alongside the National Parks Act 1975, the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 and relevant park management plans.
